More than any year I can ever remember, 2004 began with a bang! New toys seemed to be released every other week, starting in early January and continuing right through the end of the year! Timed with nearly perfect coordination with their first appearances in the all new cartoon series which first aired in January. Transformers Energon takes place 10 years after the ending of TF: Armada (see Media Section to the left for greater details.) This series of toys have much of what fans and collectors have been hoping for; greater posability and transformation complexity, while maintaining the solid sturdiness of their Armada predecessors. |
In addition to Autobots, Decepticons, and even a few Mini-cons, this all new Energon series introduced fans to two additional factions of Transformers. The Omnicons and Terrorcons are explained a little differently in the comics and the cartoons. However, they are seen in both series as "energon processors". They can take Energon in its "raw" form and turn it into forms that other TF's can use, energon stars that provide energy and cool weapons like swords, axes and guns... Here they are the 2004 series of TF: Energon. |

Transformers Universe continued in 2004. The story from the back of the toys packaging, "In the distant future, the evil Unicron wages a final war for ultimate control of the Universe, summoning a vast army of Decepticon forces from across time and space. Responding quickly, Optimus Primal gathers his own army of heroic Autobot forces and marches into battle against the aggressors. As the enemy sides clash in the biggest war the Universe has ever seen, their bodies emit a powerful radiation known as Energon. Little do they know that UNICRON is secretly harvesting this mysterious force to increase his own strength!" |
