1989 Transformers
In 1989 Transformers fans saw the last of the Pretenders.  New assortments included the Pretender "Classics" which had human shells housing Grimlock, Jazz, Bumblebee and Starscream!  Mega and Ultra Pretenders were also unveiled whose partially organic shell had the ability to transform as well as the robot it concealed.  We also enjoyed the last G1 combiner team.  As pretenders themselves this was a nice addition to the TF universe! 
1989 also saw the first of a new concept, called the Micromasters.  As another toy company marketed MicroMachines, Transformers answered w/ teams in sets of four called "... Patrols."  We followed their stories in the comics, which at the time were still going strong.  It'll take us awhile before we can get to generating character pages for these guys, but have patience.  We will get to it eventually.  In the meantime, I thought you'd at least like to see the characters from 1989 in their boxes!  As always they're listed in the order that they appear on the Collector pad CHECKLIST (Autobots first, then Decepticons.)  Enjoy!
