If you're looking for a "missing link" in the evolution of Transformers from the all robotic characters of Generation 1 to the more organic characters of Beast Wars, then look no further than the Transformers of 1988! Pretenders were the first to incorporate an organic element into the bodies. The concept was that they have an organic shell which concealed the transformable, technological-Cybertronian within; a very 'pre-Beast Wars' concept if you ask me! An added 'feature' of this year's toys was that for the first time the robot and vehicle modes look very 'Cybertronian.' a feature we really loved. |
In addition to the Pretenders, we were also treated a great new combiner set called the Seacons and many other new TF's with Nebulan counterparts, including new Headmasters, Targetmasters, and the Powermasters. Although we haven't been able to add individual character pages yet, please have patience. We will get to it! For now, please enjoy the box pictures of the 1988 Transformers, listed in order as seen in the collector pad CHECKLIST! |

| Taking a drastically different approach than its US counterparts, Masterforce would feature Headmaster Juniors and Earth youngsters as the Godmasters (Powermasters). Some toys were the same as the US release while others were colored differently. A few toys were released that were not available in other markets like Metalhawk, Overlord, and Browning. And the weirdest thing is that Powermaster Optimus Prime isn't Convoy in Masterforce. |
