R A V A G E

"Today's Autobots are
tomorrow's scrap metal."

Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Saboteur
First Cartoon Appearance: G1 TF episode 1
First Cartoon Appearance: Transformers #1

Profile:  Ravage operates best when he operates alone.  He's a creature of the night and carries out most of his murderous mischief at that time.  Often the other Decepticons have no idea where he is, but they know he's up to no good, so they don't mind.  He is easily the craftiest of his comrades and is quick to devise deadly new strategies to be used against the Autobots.  He tends to remain aloof from the others, but his deeds command their respect.  He is an exceptionally efficient war machine

Abilities:  Ravage can hide his presence from others virtually completely.  He can shield any electromagnetic radiation inside him from being detected by any monitoring devices.   His walk is soundless.  And he can disappear from sight in subdued light or shadows.  He has his own monitoring devices in his nose module that give him a superior sense of smell, hearing and full spectrum electromagnetic wave detection.   He carries two low radiation one megaton proton bombs, which he can fire over 3 miles distant or set in place with a timer.

Weaknesses:  He is very sensitive to light & can be blinded by too much of it.

Other Appearances:  Strangely enough, Ravage has made more appearances in other facets of the Transformers Universe than just about any other member of the original Decepticons.  (Well, unless you count all of the other characters named Megatron who are know to be a different individual with the same name...)  Although it did take him 14 years to re-emmerge!

After his original form he stayed out of sight for until returning with a pretty major role in the brilliant season 2 finale episodes "The Agenda, parts 1-3."

"Reprogrammed and rebuild as a Predacon," he retained many of the same stealth abilities of his original Decepticon form.  Though the original never spoke (except in the comics) the new and improved Predacon version has the voice of a Russian double agent.  Unfortunately, he also met his demise with the destruction of his ship.  His final words will forever remain classic,

"DECEPTICONS FOREVER!"

Click HERE to see pictures of the Ravage (Predacon) figure I made found in our "Alterations Section" Click here to see a small thumbnail of what he looked like in Beast Wars.

The first re-apparance of the toy was released in Japan only. A retouled version of Transmetal 1 Cheetor.  Sorry as the toy was released in Japan only, I do not have a character page, although this same toy was later recolored as a BotCon Exclusive in 2001.

In the U.S. he did finally show up with the name "Tripredacus Agent" released in 2001.  Apparently the name Ravage must have been expired or copyrighted before Hasbro could grab it again!

In 2004 there was the Terrorcon commander "Battle Ravage".  Alghough you may disagree, I like to think of him as another evolution of the same character in a different form.  (following chronology, this would be before the great "Maximal/Predacon upgrade" that led to the character we see in BeastWars.  Adding a little more credibility to this theory is that he talks very little, except for a few lines in the comics series...

In 2005 there Battle Ravage returns again, a part of the TF: Alternators line.  What a great toy!

RUMBLE
/(FRENZY)

"Destroy what's below and
what's above will follow."

Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Demolitions

First Cartoon Appearance:
First Appearance: Transformers #1

another picture in robot mode, straight on angle

Okay, lets get this out of the way first, the toy packaging consistently referred to the red cassette as Rumble.  Although in the shows, the red one shown here didn't appear nearly as much and was consistently known as Frenzy...  They have similar capabilities, even similar personalities.  Personally I always think of Frenzy as the red one, but to avoid confusion we'll stick w/ the official Hasbro packaging...

Profile:  Rumble is your basic street punk.  He compensates for his small size by always acting tough.   And he is tough.  Cross him and he'll punch your optic sensors out.  He has a quick temper and a mean disposition.  The other Decepticons try to keep their distance.  Yet, this unpleasant, swaggering little hoodlum is one of Megatron's favorites.  Rumble follows orders blindly and hungrily; he always waits impatiently for Megatron's next assignment.  A good time for Rumble is shaking a building into a heap of rubble.  "I love the sight of crumbling bricks," he says.

Thanks to CReed for sending me the picture to the right of Rumble/Frenzy in cassette mode; one which I was not aware of from TF:TM of all places!  Thank you!

Abilities:  Rumble can roll the drum-like constructions in his body to  transmit through his feet intense low frequency groundwaves that have the effect of stimulating earthquakes.  His quakes have registered as high as 5.4 on the Richter Scale.

Weaknesses:  Rumble's small size severely limits his strength; he can be easily beaten by most of the Autobots in any sort of physical struggle or artillery barrage.  Given his power of causing the ground to shatter however, the trick is to get close enough to Rumble to fight him.

Other Appearances: Frenzy returned in a new form in the last year of Generation 2 1995.  As far as I can recall Rumble/Frenzy has not appeared in any other facet of the Transformers Universe.
